Student Body President

Currently Vacant

Special Election will be held! Pay attention to your emails for the form. Please review The CSGA Constitution for requirements.

Student Body Vice President President

Garrett Barfoot

I have been continuously involved in student government and leadership from my first semester at RUSM. From curriculum rep, to curriculum chair, to THOA site senator, to current secretary of academic affairs. I have been fortunate to serve my peers in these capacities, and have been fortunate to develop working relationships with many of the RUSM leadership which have been advocates and companions in executing changes desired by the student body. These experiences have uniquely prepared me to serve the RUSM clinical student body in future capacities.

I hope to continually learn the needs of our clinical students, and consistently partner with our RUSM administration towards our mutual goals of enhancing the experiences of our students and aid in their personal and professional development towards a successful match in their respective specialties of choice. I also hope to continue my personal and professional development in the process of serving our students.

Stanley Pierre

I have been a part of both the SGA in Basic Sciences and currently serving as CSGA's Secretary of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. I have had experience planning events, setting aside budgets, conducting meetings, and promoting awareness to the entire student body as it pertains to cultural traditions.

Student Body VP - With my experience in SGA, I would be able to advocate for the entire student body and serve as a voice for our students. Evaluate all concerns expressed by the student body and effectively conjure up solutions that would be feasible to address said concerns

Vice President of Clubs and Organizations

Reda Arif

During my time at RUSM, I have been the president of AMSA in Barbados. In my clinical years I have been the on the E Board of Psychiatry Interest Group as the Social Media and Volunteer Chair.

I hope to bring my experience and dedication to uplift and create good experiences for Rossies in their clinical years.

Sunny Rampuria

As a current Clinical Peer Mentor and Hospital Site Senator for the Center for Haitian Studies track, I’ve developed strong communication and organizational skills, leading transition orientations to clinical sciences and coordinating events aimed at enhancing student well-being, such as the upcoming mental wellness event at TopGolf. These roles have sharpened my ability to serve as an advocate, ensuring that our concerns are addressed and we have access to resources to succeed in our academic journeys. This hands-on leadership experience has given me a deep understanding of student needs and the importance of fostering a positive, supportive culture. I have also held additional leadership roles such as Hospital site leader for Surgical Medical Specialty Interest Group, and vice president of the Indian Medical Student Association.

If selected as Vice President of Clubs and Organizations, my primary goal would be to enhance the clinical student experience by ensuring that each clinical interest group has the resources and support necessary to offer meaningful events that promote both professional development and well-being. Drawing on my previous experience as a CHS Hospital Site Senator, I’ve demonstrated my ability to collaborate with fellow leaders and organize events that cater to student needs. For example, I worked closely with other South Florida site senators and Sheyla, the amazing Student Body Vice President, to organize a mental wellness event at TopGolf and a professional headshot event to help students prepare for their ERAS applications. As VPCO, I will take this same collaborative approach to approve and oversee funding requests for clinical science interest groups, ensuring each group has the necessary financial backing to create similarly impactful events at their hospital sites.

Vice President of Honor Council

Seham Noorani

As the student representative for St. Anthony I served as the first point of contact for students, helping resolve concerns related to peers, preceptors, or hospital policies. This role sharpened my skills in communication, conflict resolution, and leadership, while also building trust among my peers. I developed the ability to listen attentively, respond thoughtfully, and find solutions that benefited both students and the institution. These interactions fostered a sense of approachability and built trust among my peers. I believe these skills will enable me to continue serving the student body effectively, especially in a position such as Honor Council, where communication, empathy, and problem-solving are key.

In this role, I aim to encourage a culture of professionalism, integrity, and respect within our clinical environments. I want to be part of initiatives that promote student well-being and create a supportive atmosphere. By guiding peer-led discussions for minor violations, I hope to reinforce accountability while ensuring fairness and open communication among students. My goal is to help uphold the standards of conduct expected in the medical field, while also fostering a sense of respect and support within our student community.

Godfred Frimpong

I have served as a 4th semester honor council representative and I understand my role as a liaison between the student body and the conduct office to foster respect, encourage professionalism as well as wellness. As part of the voting board of the CSGA body should I be elected, I would like to open a discussion with a valid concern for ROSS to reevaluate the mandatory 90 weeks of clinical rotations particularly the electives. In my opinion, considering the fact that SGU, AUC and most US Med schools complete rotations in about 80 weeks, our requirements dare I to say might have outlived its relevance.

Chiamaka Odinammadu

In my previous role as treasurer of the Organization of African Students during basic sciences, I helped organize both academic and social events that fostered community and collaboration among students. Currently, I serve as treasurer of the Clinical Ob/Gyn Interest Club, where I continue to develop my leadership and project management skills. These experiences have equipped me to effectively engage with diverse groups and advocate for student interests. I am committed to creating a vibrant and supportive environment for all students ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be heard.

Secretary of Academic Affairs

I hope to bring my experience and dedication to uplift and create good experiences for Rossies in their clinical years.

Simran Agarwal

Serving as the Cleveland Clinic Florida Site Senator this past term, I gained valuable insight into how CSGA works and became passionate about advocating for and supporting the student body. In this role, I developed strong organizational and leadership skills by coordinating events, addressing student concerns, and facilitating communication between students and administration. I also had the opportunity to collaborate with other site senators and witnessed firsthand the positive impact we can have. I hope to climb the ladder this year and take on greater responsibilities to ensure that each student is heard, supported, and provided with opportunities for growth—both academically and personally. My experience has prepared me to take on this next step, and I’m eager to continue serving and making a difference.

If elected Secretary for Academic Affairs, I will focus on providing students with the resources and guidance needed to excel academically. This includes improving access to study materials, organizing peer-led tutoring, and supporting students in preparation for shelf exams and boards. I aim to ensure students have a voice in shaping the curriculum and overcoming academic challenges.

Secretary of International Students

Clementina Akpomedaye

I have served as a Clinical Peer Mentor and I was the previous Secretary of International Students

I would like to continue the work that I started with the Immigration department in Ross. We have been planning on a survey that would address international student concerns.

Diya Grover

Having served one term as the Executive Events Manager, I believe I have not only been able to further enhance my leadership and communication skills but also been successful in drawing my colleagues towards participating in CSGA events across all RUSM clinical sites! Seeing my fellow Rossies actively engage in CSGA events and their enthusiasm to become all rounded individuals during my past term gives me more motivation to continue to try and help create an environment which fosters the growth of our future MDs!

With my previous leadership experiences during the pre-clinical years, such as being a part of the event coordination team in Indian Medical Student Association (IMSA) and the Student Ambassadors Program, years of active involvement in my local community leading cultural/fundraising events and working as a teaching assistant at a supplemental education program, combined with my past experience with the CSGA, I strongly believe I have the ability to successfully serve our clinical community and advocate for the needs of students that can help them maximize their potential! With the help of my colleagues in the CSGA, I hope to use my position to be able to provide the resources and opportunities to help students become successful in their goals, while maintaining a healthy work environment and a strong sense of community! The goal will always be to advocate for students and provide a platform where they feel included, heard and have a say in their path to success!

CSGA Secretary of DEI - Continue to build upon everything we've worked on during this term and establish some continuity as CSGA is still developing its structure. I wish to continue the plans that I set aside for this term, which included an event where we can signify the importance of being culturally diverse as we become physicians.

Executive Treasuerer

Benjamin Bassel

My name is Ben Bassel. I'm an MS4 at Mt. Sinai Hospital and the current CSGA Executive Treasurer. My journey to medicine has been a non-traditional one. After graduating from the University of Georgia (UGA) with a Business degree in Management Information Systems and an emphasis in Finance, I started working as a consultant in Ernst and Young’s (EY) Business Technology Advisory Practice for a few years. Throughout my time at EY, I worked for many S&P 500 clients for many years of financial based projects of which I have managed the budget for our teams. My current duties include overseeing the financial management of the CSGA, developing budgets and allocating funds to site senators and interest groups, monitoring expenditures, and record keeping.

I hope to continue to create a clear and concise budget that will cater to the needs of the clinical student body. I would love continue to be part of the SGA Leadership team and help bridge the gap between students and with Ross Administration and Hospital faculty.I would love to continue my role as Executive Treasurer into the Fall of 2024 and I hope the student body does too.

Executive Secretary

Alexander Preisig

I have several experiences that provided the tools necessary to be successful in leadership positions and be beneficial to the Clinical Sciences student body. During my time in the Medical Sciences curriculum in Barbados, I spent four semesters as a member of the Student Government Association, including one as President. Throughout my lengthy SGA tenure, I worked extensively with members of Administration and Faculty to advocate on behalf of the student body and improve the on-island experience for RUSM students. This endeavor offered insight on the role of Student Government in medical school and facilitated meaningful collaborations with colleagues in achieving a common goal. I have spent three semesters as Vice President of Finance for Phi Delta Epsilon Fraternity. Additionally, the plethora of other roles I held, including Head Gross Anatomy Teaching Assistant, Student Ambassador, and Research Coordinator for the American Medical Student Association, demonstrate my commitment to the RUSM community and desire to serve as a role model for my peers.

In the Executive Secretary position, I hope to contribute to the efficacy of the CSGA by augmenting communication between CSGA members and students. The Association cannot sufficiently carry out its mission of representing Clinical Sciences students if communication channels are not open, streamlined, and responsive, and I want to reinforce the notion that students can reach out to CSGA whenever assistance or guidance is needed. Furthermore, success in this role is contingent upon being well-organized so that all members of the team can stay informed; I hope to accomplish this by guaranteeing that our SharePoint server is regularly maintained and easily navigated. I believe that I can execute the administrative duties of this position in an orderly and timely fashion.

Dakota Topp

I served as secretary of multiple clubs while in basic sciences, and assisted in building Ross Christian Fellowship from 30 members to a 150 member organization. I managed all communications to the club and with SGA. I have extensive experience with applications such as canva, mailchimp and others. I am a very available, and approachable person and am willing to find answers to questions I may be asked.

I enjoy the opportunity to help others and being an avenue of communication, I have thrived in leadership roles prior and I look forward to getting the opportunity to serve the student body and be an avenue of communication for students.

Reda Arif

Executive of Public Relations

Ayanna Montegut

I believe my background and experiences align well with the Executive Public Relations Coordinator responsibilities. My digital design skills will enable me to create visually appealing and effective content for our social media platforms, ensuring our student body is engaged and informed. Having served in the medical sciences student government association, I understand the importance of collaboration. I am well-versed in coordinating with various teams, which will be beneficial in working closely with all branches of the CSGA and allow me to ensure events and information are well-promoted and effectively advertised. I am committed to maintaining an active social media presence for the student body. Furthermore, my passion for mental health and community engagement will guide my efforts in supporting digital initiatives that foster a sense of belonging among students. I am excited to work with the CSGA team to create a vibrant digital community that supports all students.

As the Executive Public Relations Coordinator, I hope to accomplish several goals. I aim to create a dynamic social media presence that effectively informs and engages our student body about events, resources, and initiatives. My goal is to ensure that every student feels connected and informed. In doing this I can also promote mental health by fostering an environment where students feel supported and encouraged to seek help. By collaborating closely with the CSGA team, I hope to boost attendance and participation. I aspire to create a strong sense of community through digital engagement, encouraging students to connect. This includes interactive posts and campaigns that highlight student voices and experiences. To give students a voice, I plan to establish channels for students to provide feedback on our social media and events, allowing us to continue to improve and adapt. Overall, I want to contribute to a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive student environment that enhances the overall experience for everyone involved.

Hannah Reimer

I have held many PR positions both in basic sciences and in clinical year. I am creative, timely, and can work different platforms to get not only our information, but information of other organizations out to other students.

I think that social media is a great platform to get information out to students, but I would like to find ways to connect with students who may not be on social media. I am aware that not everyone uses social media, and that there is often information lost to students who are not online. I want to create ways to broadcast information to students in a more participatory way.

Executive of Community Digital Engagement

In the Executive of Community Engagement position, I hope to fortify the sense of community among RUSM students despite them physically being dispersed across the various clinical sites. Having resources in place for all students to access is important for continuous engagement, and I want to accomplish this by ensuring that the WhatsApp group chats and the student-managed clinical website are routinely updated and accessible for those who would like to use them. We all have the same ultimate goal as RUSM students and it is important to me that we can stay connected via accessible and up-to-date online platforms.

Esereoghene Mowoe

I’ve served as the historian for the chemistry society and the VP of social media during my undergraduate career. Also serves as the events coordinator and representative for graduate courses during graduate school. During medical

School I’ve served as the beltway track clinical Representative for Anesthesiology interest group and executive of community engagement for CSGA.

I hope to give ideas that will be beneficial to clinical students. The transition can be difficult and can make one feel lost. As someone who has been through that transition and is completing more of my rotations, I have began to identify gaps that could be patched up to make it easier for those coming up.

Ravila Bhimani

During my time as Fundraising Chair for the Indian Students Association, I successfully organized a fair, bake sales, movie night, and cultural events which all included fundraisers that fostered community engagement and collaboration. This role taught me how to manage large-scale events, coordinate with various teams, and ensure smooth execution while maintaining a focus on our goals. Additionally, as Research Coordinator for the Cardiology Club, I organized educational events and facilitated collaboration among students and faculty. This experience helped me refine my organizational and leadership skills, which are critical in roles that require effective communication and coordination. These skills would serve me well as the Executive Events Manager

I am confident that my combination of event management, leadership experience, and commitment to representing my peers makes me a strong fit for leadership roles. I am eager to contribute to the student body in these capacities.

Victoria Lovallo

While serving as a Peer Mentor, I was responsible for planning event programs for the residents in my residence hall. I coordinated the events, oversaw the events and also documented them for school administration. My past experience in this capacity will definitely help in managing events across clinical sites!

I hope to help set up fun and useful events to enrich our education and wellness and build our clinical community.

Northeast Regional Senator

Chiamaka Odinammadu

In my previous role as treasurer of the Organization of African Students during basic sciences, I helped organize both academic and social events that fostered community and collaboration among students. Currently, I serve as treasurer of the Clinical Ob/Gyn Interest Club, where I continue to develop my leadership and project management skills. Krystal Betancourt

I served as UMCAP site senator for the May 2024 term. As a site senator I hosted the UMCAP ERAS headshot event and two other social events during my term. I have learned about the process of planning events and gauging student interest on the events students would like to attend. I understand the process of requesting funding and as well as contacts with different venues. I believe my experience as UMCAP site senator will benefit in overseeing site senators as regional senator.

My goal for my term as a regional senator would be to help site senators in my region host two events during their term. I would like to brainstorm and implement ideas for more student engagement for site senator office hours.

Southern Regional Senator

Stephanie Bernard

As an immigrant and first-generation graduate, I’ve overcome many challenges that have strengthened my ability to empathize with and advocate for students from diverse backgrounds. My passion for healthcare stems from a desire to help others in vulnerable situations, and this same drive has guided my leadership roles in both academic and personal settings. In these roles, I’ve learned to actively listen, offer thoughtful solutions, and build strong networks of support. Through my involvement in campus organizations and my own experiences, I’ve identified trends in student concerns and worked collaboratively with students and faculty to address them. I am confident that my ability to assess and communicate these issues will allow me to advocate effectively and bring them to the Student Body VP for further action.

In this position, I hope to foster a stronger connection between the student body and the CSGA by ensuring that students’ concerns are heard and addressed efficiently. My primary goal is to serve as a bridge between students and leadership, advocating for student needs and ensuring their voices are reflected in decisions made at all levels. I also hope to collaborate with site senators and faculty to identify trends in student concerns and proactively address emerging issues, particularly those that affect the clinical student experience. Ultimately, I want to create a more supportive and responsive environment where students feel empowered, well-represented, and confident that their concerns will lead to meaningful change.

Simran Agarwal

Serving as the Cleveland Clinic Florida Site Senator this past term, I gained valuable insight into how CSGA works and became passionate about advocating for and supporting the student body. If elected Southern Regional senator, I hope to oversee all the clinical sites in South Florida, ensuring that students have access to the support they need and feel confident in approaching me with any concerns or questions. My goal is to collaborate with the respective site senators to maintain strong communication and guide them in addressing student needs. I also plan to organize events that create a sense of community and well-being, such as headshot events, movie nights, themed parties, beach outings, or even educational excursions like Frost Science Museum days. These events will offer a balance of professional development and relaxation, making the South Florida experience enjoyable for all.

One of my goals would be to advise and support the South Florida site senators by promoting collaboration between those on the CHS and Cleveland Clinic tracks, where students often feel disconnected due to rotating in different sites. Drawing from my experience as a CHS Site Senator, I will continue to create opportunities for students from both tracks to engage in shared experiences. By holding weekly office hours, as I am currently conducting as a CHS Site Senator, I will provide students with a consistent platform to voice concerns, ask questions, and seek advice on various issues they may encounter during their clinical rotations.

Stanley Pierre

I have been a part of both the SGA in Basic Sciences and currently serving as CSGA's Secretary of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Southern Regional Senator - Being that I am in the south florida area, I would work hand in hand with the site senators to advocate for the students on a local level. If elected to this position, I would brainstorm a way for students to connect and network so that we can share our experiences which may assist in our medical journeys.

I have experience being a regional site senator, and I would like to continue to expand my experiences by overseeing the Midwestern hospital sites. I am capable of taking on many tasks at once, I am good at communicating, and I am familiar with students across these sites.

I want there to be cohesiveness for students who may be doing their 4th year electives at many of these hospitals that I would oversee. I think it is important to keep 3rd and 4th year students engaged with each other, and the hospitals in the Midwestern Region are great places to get that started.

I helped start intramural sports on the island with a group of other students. I organized the field sports through creation of scheduling, volunteer positions, and directed students on days of their sports games.

Trinity Health Oakland Site Senator (2)

Jovana Milutinovic

My past experience serving as class representative with SGA on-island has already given me a strong foundation in advocating for my fellow students, listening to their concerns, and effectively communicating those issues to leadership. Another responsibility of mine in this position included sending out weekly emails to my class, keeping them informed on important updates, upcoming events, and any concerns that needed to be addressed. This helped me develop strong communication skills, ensured transparency, and kept my classmates engaged with what was happening at RUSM! This also allowed me to quickly gather feedback from my peers, that I could relay to other members of SGA to make sure student concerns were quickly addressed. On island I was also able to serve as president of the Canadian Student Association. In this role, I gained a lot of experience in planning and organizing events, from coordinating logistics to making sure everything ran smoothly. Because of this, I am familiar with managing timelines, budgeting, and promoting events to ensure good turnout. Overall, these experiences have helped me grow my leadership and organizational skills, and they have made me even more passionate about advocating for my peers and creating a supportive, welcoming community at RUSM!

In this role, I strive to be the go-to person for my fellow clinical students, making sure their concerns are not only heard, but addressed. I intend on planning exciting, meaningful events each term to bring everyone together and remind them that they always have support from their fellow students. I also intend on staying connected with the student coordinator and clerkship leadership, so I can quickly handle any issues that come up and make the whole clinical experience better for us all!

These skills would serve me well as the Site Senator at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. As Site Senator, I would use my experience in engaging different groups to represent student concerns and ensure our voices are heard. I am confident that my combination of event management, leadership experience, and commitment to representing my peers makes me a strong fit for all of these roles. I am eager to contribute to the student body in these capacities.

During my undergraduate studies, I had the privilege of holding executive board positions including President & Founder of the Cancer Awareness Society, Vice President of the Pre-Medical Society and Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students, Secretary of Amplifying Autism Awareness. Additionally, I was an executive board leader of the Diversity & Inclusion group at William Beaumont Health System. During medical sciences, I was the Vice President of the Anesthesiology Student Association (ASA) and social media chair of the Genetics Interest Group at RUSM. I had the opportunity to contribute significantly to the advancement of the association's goals and objectives. This experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the intricacies and nuances of student representation and advocacy. Having grown up in the metro Detroit area, a mere 15 minutes away from SJMO, I possess an intimate familiarity with the location. I firmly believe that my extensive leadership background, coupled with my intimate knowledge of the local area, uniquely positions me to provide invaluable assistance to Ross students during their rotations.

Mt. Sinai (Chicago) Site Senator

Katlyn Locher

I served on SGA as an honor council representative for several semesters on island, during basic sciences. During this time, I served as a student advocate. This experience allowed me to give a voice and stand along side students facing challenges in relation to the rules and honor code at RUSM. I have also started multiple programs in my past that have assisted students. One was a program for junior high and high school students that taught students leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Another program was called pathway to Saluki Medicine at Southern Illinois University. This program provided  educational introduction to careers in the medical field. I've gained invaluable experience in advocating for student education and the promotion of careers within medicine through these experiences.

In this position, I hope to give our student body a strong voice by creating open dialogue in hopes that each of our voices will be heard. I plan to make our experience at Mt. Sinai as fulfilling as possible. My past experiences have allowed me to practice strong communication and program development. I will use my communication skills to effectively advocate our concerns with faculty and staff. Additionally, I will work alongside you to develop programs that help navigate educational challenges and develop our professional skills. I will be dedicated to promoting initiatives that foster a positive learning environment, create a strong community, and enhance our mental and physical well-being. These initiatives will be carried out and put into action.

Ariel Mandelblum

Beyond my experiences, I’ve lived my life by the motto “If something is important to you, make it important to you” and “Actions are what define us”. I fiercely strive to improve the lives of not just myself, but of those around me everyday. On campus I was known by my peer group as one who would speak up regularly when things were confusing, attend the (voluntary) meetings with Ross faculty, and leave remarks of the classes at the end of each semester. These actions were done to voice not only my concerns, but of those of my classmates who for lack of a better word were “afraid” to voice concerns. Action is truly the only determinant of change, and I strongly believe I will inspire positive, and lasting changes for future students to benefit of. While on island I was a founding member of the Orthopedics in sports medicine interest group, as well as a member of Phi Delta Epsilon, SIG, REMIG, LMSA, and JSA.

I hope to serve as an active speaker on behalf of my classmates and colleagues. To bring forward concerns to the university and my site student coordinator(s) at Mt. Sinai to improve the clinical student experience. Additionally I have ideas for potential events such as refresher courses for CPR training (which can benefit students not only for improving their skills, but to allow students the opportunity to learn how to run the courses themselves to further expand the teaching network of care), SIM labs, suture training, and others like these.

My past experience as a Peer Mentor on Island. My past experience as an SGA official on Island make me qualified for this position.

I hope to generate clear and effective communication between rotation preceptors and students to establish roles, responsibilities, and expectations. Currently, there is a massive knowledge gap where students have no clue what they are supposed to be doing and how much they are allowed to do. We are not here to shadow and observe, we are not paying to shadow, we are paying to learn, grow, excel, and be hands on.

Create a checklist for new rotating students for better first day preparation.

Work with Ross Staff for a better and more informative orientation for M3 students only.

Revamp the roles of the Peer Mentors for incoming M3 students.
