January 2025 Newsletter

Welcome to the New Year! We hope everyone has had a great holiday season and the CSGA leadership team is looking forward to all the fun events that we have planned for the upcoming term!

Known Medtrics Issue with Final Grades

The CSGA and RUSM is aware of a known issue where Medtrics is not transferring the online curriculum portion of final grades to the registrar. This is resulting in incorrect grades showing up as final grades. The registrar has identified several hundred students that have been affected by this issue and is working to resolve the situation by the end of January. The system has been calculating grades correctly since the end of December. Expect an email from the registrar with more details.

If students have concerns about pending grades and graduation audits, they can reach out to Registars office as well.

Match Parties

Congratulations to all of those who are preparing to match this year, we hope your interviews and preparations are going well.

We will be hosting match parties on Friday, March 21, 2025 for the LA, New York, Chicago, and Miami locations, please be on the lookout for the interest form to say where you will be located!

For those who will not be able to travel to one of the main parties but will be in clinical rotations at another site where we have a site senator: please reach out to the site senator for the site you will be at in March so we can evaluate if we can hose a smaller event at that site.

Site Events

Please be on the lookout for emails from your site senator who will be sharing information regarding office hours and site events!

Office hours are in place to discuss concerns regarding the site, and as a place to meet up with students who are at your site as well. These will be virtual and in person. When in person the CSGA will attempt to provide some sort of food!

Please use this time to ensure your concerns are being voiced to both clinical leadership, and to directors of the site.

Updates from Your Secretaries

Secretary of Academic Affairs:

The Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) is a community of medical students, physicians, and other leaders who have been recognized for their compassionate care. This is one of the societies that is noted on your ERAS applications. Currently, only US medical schools are recognized by the GHHS.  Students have taken the initiative to see if GHHS would be willing to expand their breadth of membership to international schools. That initiative has been taken up by RUSM leadership and they have been in communication with the society while they are reviewing documents RUSM submitted.

VSLO- We continue to follow up about VSLO participation but international schools have been denied from participating in this service. Students should utilize the official Elective Guide for clerkships and follow Ross' policies on participating in away rotations.

2025 Match Cycle

The 2025 Match cycle is almost coming to an end! While some interviews are still happening, many programs are wrapping up and will begin working on rank lists. The OCA and CSGA have plans for hosting events about rank lists, SOAP, and what to expect during match week. Communications will be sent out soon!

Feedback Opportunity

Problems with ACGME electives? Issues with a certain clerkship? Clerkship guide not up to date? We will be debuting a form to collect feedback from students, this will be an opportunity to share any issues or questions you may be having with your CSGA Leadership. This form will be displayed at all sites where we have a site senator for easy access. You will also be able to find the form online.

The CSGA leadership has monthly meetings with multiple Deans of RUSM. Let us be your voice to advocate for change!

Please be on the lookout for the email with the link to the form.

ECFMG MyIntealth Update

January 28th 2024

Dear Doctor,

As Intealth and its ECFMG division have worked diligently toward the launch of MyIntealth over the past two weeks, we fully recognize that many customers are facing time-sensitive issues. We apologize for any disruption caused by our extended pause in services.

To ensure that our customers have access to critical services, we are restoring our existing systems, and our on-line services are expected to be available tomorrow, Monday, January 29. Users will be able to access all services, including IWA, OASIS, CVS ON-LINE, and our EPIC Portal, to submit applications and other service requests, and to check the status of prior applications/requests. The launch of MyIntealth has been postponed.

While we will continue to prepare MyIntealth for launch, our priority is to ensure that customers have everything they need from us without further delay. We will reschedule the launch of MyIntealth for a later date to occur with minimal impact to those we serve and will provide updates as they become available.

With our systems once again available, we will be working to address time-sensitive issues as soon as possible. For assistance with urgent inquiries and requests, please call the appropriate customer service center. Please visit the Contact page for information. If you cannot call, please send an email with "URGENT" in the subject line so we can prioritize a resolution. Please don't send duplicate messages and only reach out if urgent, so that we meet the needs of those most needing assistance.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any challenges you may have experienced during our extended pause in services. We look forward to providing full support and assistance to all who rely on our services.

Sincerely,

ERAS Support Services at ECFMG - A Division of Intealth

Conference Funding Update

We also want to be clear that the funding for the conference funding initiative never came from Ross University and was 100% supplied by the Clinical Student Governemnt. As mentioned in the video, we are happy that the program was able to help student sand will continue to work on options to find funding for the future of the program.

New change regarding clinical skills attestation and RUSM graduation requirements.

Effective, August 10, 2023, Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) will no longer require the Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA) exam.  It was determined that clinical skills and competencies are appropriately assessed by the existing curriculum utilizing the Clinical Clerkship Assessment of Medical Student Performance (CCAMSP). As such, RUSM graduation requirements will no longer include the CSA and will otherwise remain unchanged.

What Does This Mean for you?

If you are progressing satisfactorily through clinical clerkships, then RUSM will use the components of the CCAMSP to attest to your clinical skills and competencies as part of the Pathways for the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical School Graduates (ECFMG™) Certification clinical skills attestation. No further action on your part is required with regard to clinical skills attestation.

What Are The Next Steps?

Clinical skills attestations will be processed on the following dates:

Students must have completed their ECFMG Pathway application and have a passing final grade for Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Ob/Gyn Core Clerkships for your attestation to be completed. Students will receive a notification once their attestation has been processed and uploaded to the ECFMG portal.

Students who are not on track to meet the requirements for ECFMG clinical skills attestation before February 15, 2024, will be notified on or before November 15, 2023, to address any missing requirements. Students with questions about Match timelines and starting residency in 2024 may contact the Office of Career Advisement at OCA@RossU.edu.

We appreciate your attention to these details. If you have questions regarding this update, please contact registrar@rossu.edu. If you want to inquire about a previous CSA, please email cATL@rossu.edu. We look forward to continuing to support you on your journey toward becoming physicians. u
